Overview
Psychoeducation at Rahama Wellness Center explains a mental health or substance use condition in plain language to the person living with it and to the family around them. Wellness coaching pairs that with practical habit work on sleep, stress, exercise, routine and boundaries. Both are delivered at our centre in Sabon Lugbe, Abuja, one to one or in groups, and both are available to community groups, faith organisations and schools as well as to individuals.
Why understanding the condition changes the outcome
A family that understands what depression or a substance use disorder actually is treats the person living with it differently. They stop reading symptoms as bad character. They recognise a warning sign before it becomes a crisis. They know which parts of the recovery are theirs to support and which are not. That is why psychoeducation is not an optional extra alongside treatment: for many households it is the part that makes the treatment hold.
What wellness coaching covers
Coaching is the practical half. Sleep, because almost every mental health difficulty gets worse without it. Stress, because most people have never been taught anything to do with it. Routine, exercise and food, because recovery happens in an ordinary week. Boundaries, because a person who cannot say no rebuilds the pressure that brought them in. None of it is a substitute for treatment and we will say so if you are looking for one.
Who it is for
Individuals building long-term resilience, families supporting somebody in recovery, and organisations that want their people to understand mental health rather than fear it. Where a person needs treatment rather than education, we point them to individual therapy or cognitive behavioural therapy instead. Where an organisation wants this for staff, it is delivered through our workplace mental health service.
